Literacy Council York South - Adult Learning Centre Thornhill offers reading, writing, numeracy and computer skills to individuals over 18 years of age in Southern York region, Ontario Canada.
We are a non-profit organization established since 1989 to offer confidential tutoring regardless of race, creed or economic circumstance, to those who have a desire to improve their lives through education and further employment opportunities. In pursuit of this goal we recruit and train tutors to provide both one-on-one and small group tutoring to assist adults achieve their goals of employment, further training, education.
Literacy Council York South is governed by a Board of Directors and is funded by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, as well as memberships, fundraising and donations. We are part of the EO/MTCU province-wide system for tracking data - the EOIS CaMS database.
We acknowledge the support of Markham Public Library for their provision of office and meeting space.
